In partnership with actors from the world of cinema, Milenia's latest collaborative project is about to see the light of day. We are proud to present this initiative for people who are hard of hearing and deaf.
The Scenario
Close your eyes and imagine a movie theater.
The lights dim, the background music gradually increases in power, the last spectators settle in comfortably and the magic of the 7th art works its magic.
The only downside is that there are no subtitles for the film, which is, for the occasion, a French production.
Not caring about this shortcoming, you notice that the public does not react. Everything is going well. One person, however, gets up and leaves the room.
You then understand that the person in question is hard of hearing. Isn't this the last straw, knowing that cinema is inherently popular in its approach and designed to attract crowds, regardless of the audience's disability?
Now imagine that this person can still enjoy his session like everyone else... Wouldn't that be fair and equitable?
As you can imagine, it's already a reality.
Writers and Producer
Thanks to a friendship that has lasted for years, Jérémie Monney and Dominique Loparco discussed this opportunity and decided to make it happen, together.
But where do we start things? The two embarked on research, calls, and connections in order to finally finance and organize sessions to welcome an audience, including people with hearing impairments.
Milenia, Jeremy's company, produces. Screenwriting was a joint effort that brought together diverse people from the film industry and beyond.
"I've been hard of hearing since 2012 (https://ecoute.ch/article/vivre-avec-la-maladie-de-cogan/) and I know what it feels like to see a film and unfortunately you have to give it up because there are no subtitles available.
To make this possible would put a smile on the face of the deaf and hard of hearing world! And we're looking forward to it!''

The actors
A key player in this project is Chahnaz Sibaï, manager of the cinemas in Morges and Yverdon. Thanks to it, the public will be welcomed in a warm, comfortable setting and will have access to the latest projection technologies. Thank you Chahnaz!
Another major player who has been working for years in the associative sector is Bruno Quiblier of Regards Neufs. As the cornerstone of the project, Bruno was able to provide valuable advice and guide the project with the Milenia team. Thank you Bruno!
Our thanks also to JMH Distribution, a Neuchâtel-based company active in the production and distribution of films in the cinema network in Switzerland and which provided the subtitles for the film 'Almost'.
Last but not least, a big thank you to Forom Ecoute and Anoucha Betti from Ecoute mes Lèvres who support this initiative by promoting these cinema screenings to the public.
Their daily work and efforts generate much-needed support for people who are hard of hearing and deaf. It's essential and so precious!

The end of the story: The spirit behind this initiative
'Milenia: Quite simply, people at the service of people.'
'Every client is unique, every project is specific, every request requires special attention.
Supporting our clients, responsibly and with commitment, so that their projects can be realized. So that, in the end, the loan in question will bring added value to their lives.
So that Milenia, through her team, can contribute to this.'
These few words reflect the spirit within Milenia.
It is this spirit that extends beyond our professional activities to act positively with a wider audience.
It was still necessary to find a unifying project that was anchored in respective passions and realities.
Passionate about cinema, Jérémie Monney naturally leaned towards the world of show business as a springboard for this project.
Dominique Loparco, confronted with the problems encountered by hard of hearing and deaf people during a cinema outing, quickly saw it as an opportunity to do something simple but so useful.
Organize cinema screenings with subtitles and a setting that allows everyone, without discrimination, to enjoy the magic of the 7th art.
We invite you to live this mindset with us; by making these sessions an experience lived together, rich in sharing and benevolent in its approach.
After all, cinema exists because of those who go to see it!
